David Owen

Vice-President

David Owen began his AT studies with Richard Ireton in Vancouver, attended Marjorie
Barstow’s master classes in Lincoln, Nebraska, and was certified as an AT teacher after
graduating from the Vancouver “Professional Training in the Alexander Technique”
school in 1988. 

David later returned to university for a law degree and for many years advised business,
not-for-profit, and labour organizations (he is now retired from the legal profession). 
David originally trained as a professional oboist under Perry Bauman (Principal Oboe,
Toronto Symphony) and Wayne Rapier (Assistant Principal Oboe, Boston Symphony)
and in the woodwind master classes of Marcel Moyse. He received his Master of Music
degree from the New England Conservatory of Music.

David has performed on oboe and English Horn with the Vancouver Opera Orchestra,
Turning Point Ensemble, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony and
CBC Vancouver Orchestra. He has appeared in numerous broadcasts and recordings
of symphonic, opera, chamber, and contemporary music repertoire.
